Ministry of Environment and Renewable Energy, Central Environmental Authority invites applications for the 18th International Intensive EIA Training Programme from 15th to 25th October 2014.
This is a nationally recognized course will be co-ordinated and conducted jointly by the Central Environmental Authority (CEA), Ministry of Environment and Renewable Energy (ME&RE). Centre for Environmental Justice (CEJ). International Union for Conservation of Nature IUCN, and Centre for Environmental Studies of University of Peradeniya The overall objective of the course is to provide participants with knowledge and skills in the Environmental Assessment (EA) process.
The course will be held at the Hotel Tree of Life. Kandy from 15th to 25th October 2014
Course Description
This EIA intensive training programme is spread over 10 days and is residential. The first pan of the course provides an overview and conceptual framework for EA and the second half, hands on experience in the application of EIA.
For Whom
The course is designed for Central and Provincial level government officials, project proponents, consultants engaged in EIA preparation, academics, researchers and members of non-governmental organisations (NGO) involved in the public commenting and participation process, bankers and funding agencies etc.
The medium of instruction will be English
Cost of Participation:
A subsidised course fee of Rs 55,000/= will be charged per participant to cover part of the actual cost of training. Accommodation, all meals, transport from Colombo and back, educational material, session handouts, relevant books, stationery, and local transport for case studies will be provided.
Participants who successfully complete the requirements of the program will be awarded an internationally recognized certificate.
