Postgraduate Degree Programmes Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Kelaniya invites applications are invited for the above degree courses from prospective candidates. Degree programmes will be commenced in July 2014.

Economics, Sociology, Mass communication, Political Science, Geography, Library and Information Science, History, Archaeology and Philosophy.

Medium

Sinhala

Economics – (Sinhala/English)

Sociology – (Sinhala / English)

English medium courses will be conducted only when sufficient candidates have applied for Economics and Sociology postgraduate courses.

Eligibility

Master of Arts (MA) – Duration 1 year

Should possess a Bachelor’s degree (General/Special) from a recognized university with relevant subject or any other academic or professional qualification accepted by the Senate of the University of Kelaniya

Master of Social Sciences (MSSc) – Duration 2 years

Should possess Bachelor’s degree (Special with class) from a recognized university with relevant subject or any others.

Library & Information Science

Should possess a Bachelor’s degree (General/Special) from a recognized university & one (01) year experience (Staff category) in a recognized library

Or

A Bachelor’s degree (General / Special) & Higher Diploma certificate in Library & Information Science, University of Kelaniya or pass in the Final examination of Sri Lanka Library Association.

Selection of candidates

By an interview conducted by the relevant Department of study

Fee: Rs. 75,000.00 + Rs. 5000.00 (Library Deposit)

Master of Social Sciences

Fee:  Rs. 90,000.00 + Rs. 5000.00 (MSSc) (Library Deposit)

Application forms & other details of the programmes can be obtained by paying Rs. 750.00 to the Collection Account No. 055-1-001-10667549 People’s Bank, Kelaniya Branch submitting the bank slip, together with a self-addressed (Rs. 5/ – ) envelope to the “Senior Assistant Registrar” The Degree programme (MA) (MSSc) applying should be indicated on the top left corner of the envelope.

Should be sent on or before 21.06.2014 to reach the above address.

Issue of Applications

Applications will be issued only in the office hours of week days only. Incomplete or delayed applications will be rejected.
