The doctoral degree programme is aimed at meeting the academic and professional needs of those who are engaged in research and consultancy, higher levels of teaching and training, administration and management, and advocacy and policy making
The initial registration s for the MPhil with the provision for upgrading to PhD studies on the basis of performance during the first year of studies. The degree shall be awarded on the basis of a thesis and its defence. The thesis will be prepared under the guidance of supervisors appointed by the University, and the supervisory panel consists of experienced academics and professionals from Sri Lanka and abroad
The sleeted candidates shall be required to attend course work on Economic Research Methods, scheduled for Saturdays during the first four months, and simultaneously to develop their research.
- First or Second Class (upper) division in the Special Degree in Economics or related field from a recognized university
- Master’s Degree in Economics or in a related field from a recognized university.
- Any other postgraduate qualifications recognized by the University as equivalent to above.
A good knowledge of English and adequate computer literacy are essential Working experience and research experience in the relevant fields are considered as additional qualifications.
Duration 3 years, by research under supervision
Course fee: Rs 780,000 00, payable in 3 annual installments
