Flight Operations Officer/Dispatcher Programme

Duration: 1 year

Course Fee: Rs 860,000.00 (Inclusive of applicable taxes)

Commencement: August 2014

Minimum requirements for course enrolment:

Qualifications: 3 Simple Passes at G.C.E. (A/L) in one sitting (preferably in Maths or Science subjects) and 6 Credit Passes at G.C.E. O/l (including English. Maths & Science)

Age:       Between 19-25 years

Phase 1

• Civil Air Law Regulations
• Navigation
• Air Traffic Management (ATS)
• Meteorology
• Dangerous Goods by Air
• Aircraft Mass and Performance
• Flight Planning
• Flight Monitoring
• Communication
• Aviation Security
• Human Factors

Phase 2

• On the job training at SriLankan Flight Operations Flight Control Centre at Katunayake

Phase 3

• Observation of flight duties in the cockpit

Phase 4

• Observation of a flight simulator session at A320/A330 SriLankan Airlines Flight Simulators

Classroom sessions will be carried out at the International Aviation Academy, Katunayake.

Enrolment Criteria: Applicants are required to face a written examination followed by an interview

Note:    On successful completion of the course and on completion of a technical examination conducted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Si i Lanka (CAASL), certificate holders will be qualified to obtain the Flight Dispatcher  License issued by the CAASL (on availability of employment with airline Flight operations). This license will be in conformity with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO)
